Summary

This program provides insight into praise and the role and impact of rewards in children’s being and functioning. It reflects on their well-being, self-worth, self-esteem, emotions, and behavior. It pays special attention to how praise and rewards influence behavior and gives plenty of exercises and ways to directly explore and use them within a family context. It goes into detail about how praise and rewards should be used, what the possible benefits are, but also the risks, and how they reflect on motivation, both intrinsic and extrinsic. The exploration of punishment in comparison with praise and rewards is also included in the program.

This program is designed as a full day training for parents of preschool and early school age children. It can be useful for teachers working with groups and classes of preschool and early school age children too.
